110+ RSS subscribers & other goings on…
We did it! Crack open the champagne and pour yourself a generous glass. Yesterday was a celebratory day for this site as we witnessed the Feedburner chicklet display 110 readers. Passing the 100 subscribers mark has been quite a difficult task to say the least, with us getting as close as 98, and then dropping down to the mid 80’s. Something that Ive learned is that readership does fluctuate, and I think thats the same with any blog.
Although the chicklet displayed 110 readers yesterday its likely to drop back down, but hopefully the Evoart readership will continue to grow at a steady rate. You might be thinking (if your reading this right now — Sunday evening) ‘What the F*ck? - its displaying 38 subscribers..’ and you wouldn’t be wrong to think that. According to a few of the more established blogs dotted around the web, there seems to be a glitch with Feedburner tracking subscribers using Google’s very own feed reader. Its just unfortunate that the majority of RSS junkies seem to use Google Reader, so everyones chicklet readings are seriously depleted today.
Receive our articles via email
Personally I much prefer to receive updates from a blog via email. I just find it easier than keep checking a feed reader. So, if your like me and would like to receive the articles from this site straight to your inbox, please enter your email address below and sign up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We’ve now got an archives page!
The transition is finally complete. Ive now removed all my portfolio items from the site so that the main focus here isn’t me, but you, the reader. Many of you already know that this site started out as my portfolio, well now thats gone Im just focusing the site on providing quality articles for website designers. The portfolio link in the main navigation has been changed to ‘archive’ and we’ve got a new page outlining all the posts made each month. This is something which I think the site lacked and hopefully now you guys can more easily access posts from further back in time.
Guest writers
In the coming weeks I hope to publish the first articles on Evoart from writers other than myself. I came to the conclusion a few months ago that to develop this site it would be a good idea to involve other writers. You guys probably get sick of my writing week in week out, so to hear a different voice, and style of writing might help to vary the content a little more. Anyway, we’ll see how things go. In the distant future I might even consider taking someone on to help me run the proceedings here. That is, if anyones interested. Anyway, that leads me on to say …
Im looking for more guest writers
I posted up an advert at quite a popular site a week ago advertising a guest blogging spot and had a really good response from some interesting people. From that ad Ive definitely got a few potential new articles coming up. However, if your reading this, your a web designer and you love writing and trying to educate people about subjects such as web standards, CSS, design, productivity, tutorials, your experiences and fancy getting some exposure from a PR5 blog, please head over to the contact form and drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.
Your thoughts and ideas
And finally… In the coming weeks I hope to try and collect some of your thoughts as to what you’d like to see on the site, and ways you think we could improve the content. If your brimming full with ideas already, again please send me an email. I do always take the time to read and respond to them. Right now, I’m back off to my newly purchased Xbox. I’d safely say Im addicted to Halo 3 online!
